Steve Oakes’s work as a director explores the definition of mixed media. His projects blend techniques ranging from 3D computer animation to stop-motion model animation to classic drawn character animation. His projects integrate live action, puppets, miniatures, special effects and layers of post-production tricks.
Steve's demented mind was behind the original MTV animated logo treatments that are among the classics that still play today. He was supervising producer and creative director of “PeeWee's Playhouse.” He has directed several specials and pilots for Cinemax, HBO and Nickelodeon. More than 40 episodes of his inventive pre-school show, “A Little Curious,” continue to run on HBO Family.
